The Danshan, Sichuan province Nonguang Village Village Public Affairs Bulletin Board provides some information on village affairs. These bulletin boards have a section on family planning. This bulletin boards notes that RMB 25,000 in "social compensation fee" family planning fines were owed in 2005. Thus far 11,500 RMB has been collected and another 13,500 RMB is yet to be collected. Some local affairs bulletin boards are more detailed than others. The bulletin board of the Danshan Market area Residents' Committee listed the names of all the women who had given birth recently and whether or not the birth was outside the plan. One of the nine birth recorded recently was outside the plan. A second child was born to one woman, but as allowing by regulations. According to the information on the bulletin board, there are 946 women in their reproductive years with household registration in the Market area. Of those, 315 are subject to the "Three Checks" [Note: Sancha: check for pregnancy, check for intrauterine loop, and check for illness. End note.] Of the 3463 population of the Market area, 327 are living away, including 57 women of reproductive age. |
